~FÀTIMA 1917~
PROPHETIC  PREDICTION of  IMPENDING  WWII was AMAZINGLY MORE ACCURATE than HISTORY ITSELF
Summary:  A brief observation concerning the Lady's prediction on July 13,  1917 of a coming Second World War... Her  prophecy now proves to be even more accurate than the "official" history !

~

THE BEAUTIFUL LADY of Fátima foretold of future terrible events, which the young visionary Lucia later reported to Church investigators. She also wrote of them in her personal diaries, and published them in her memoirs.

Perhaps the most spectacular revelation to her concerned the second Great War that would chastise unrepentant humanity.  Lucia was told by the Lady that this war would certainly commence during the pontificate of Pius XI -- which ended in 1938, a full before WWII "officially" commenced (with Hitler's invasion of Poland in September 1939).  Moreover, preceding the new war would be a spectacular, globally witness celestial sign. Here is what the Lady told Lucia in July 1917:

"When you see a night illuminated by an unknown light, know that it is the great sign that God gives you that He is going to punish the world by means of war, hunger and persecution of the Church and of the Holy Father.

"To prevent it, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart and the Communion of reparation on the First Saturdays.

"If people attend to my requests, Russia will be converted and the world will be at peace. If not, Russia will spread its errors throughout the world, fomenting wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer and various nations will be annihilated."

The ‘unknown light’ mentioned in the first sentence  as a ‘great sign,’ came to pass on the night of 25-26 January 1938 as an unprecedented large-scale display of the Aurora Borealis  or Northern Lights.  It appeared across the entire northern hemisphere and reportedly terrified millions worldwide. As Lucia herself put it in her memoirs, "The whole vault of heaven was fearfuI1y aglow with crimson light." Especially in Europe, people watch the glow from the North Sea to the Adriatic.  In south Germany it struck fear into many Catholic who took it as an omen. In Fribourg, Switzerland, the sky was said to be "like a furnace," wrote one observer, and the sinister glare was seen menacingly in Belgium, Spain, Hungary, Norway, Italy, Poland, and Greece. Hitler and his inner circle watched it from his mountain retreat (as participants later recounted) awestruck and sensing a portent. Newspapers reported the event world wide. The New York Times gave it nearly a full page.

Lucia, by then as a nun in her convent, believed the lights to be a wholly supernatural, thus fulfilling the prophetic message given her by the Beautiful Lady on July 13. She wrote a letter stating so to the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon :

"War is imminent. The sins of men will be washed in their own blood. Those nations will suffer most in the war which tried to destroy the Kingdom of God..."

Most Fátima commentators have noted that this Aurora Borealis in January of 1938 preceded WWII by "too many" months to be regarded as a closely associated portent. Moreover, as noted above, the apparition indicated that the war would begin during the time of Pius XI, which ended in mid-1938.

From these facts, some commentators have suggested that the Lady’s prophetic pronouncement must be declared erroneous, at least in this detail.  Others, wishing to "correct" the perceived "discrepancy," have offered alternative chronologies or interpretations.

In point of fact, though, what is most astounding (to me at least), is not the "error" of a 19-month gap between the Aurora and the war's outbreak  in September 1939, but that, in hindsight, a less culturally biased re-interpretation of the war will show that, indeed, January 1938 (the time of the Aurora) was the true beginning of WWII after all !  -- despite the conventional dating, 19 months. The historians are simply wrong ! Here is my reasoning....

Precisely at the time of the Lights in 1938, WWII was indeed commencing — not in Europe, but in China. At this very time the imperial Japanese army was invading the city of Nanking, China, and committing the notorious atrocity there known as the ‘Rape,’ which sacrificed hundreds of thousands of Chinese lives and caused tremendous suffering.

This event launched a decisive surge in worldwide alarm about Japan’s military aggression in the East. Within a few weeks of January 1938,  Russia declared itself opposed and hostile to Japan’s troop moves. Later that spring, the United States began conceiving and implementing extremely bellicose anti-Japanese economic sanctions. Both Russia and the U.S. effectively allied themselves with each other and with China, and planned for war against Japan. (Some of America's behind-the-scenes war planning only came to light with the declassification of secret documents in the 1990s.)

Hence, historians should now probably revise modern accounts of the war and should concede the fact -- with reduced Euro-centrism -- that the Second World War actually began in China in 1938, with the massacre of Nanking and engagement of Japan and Russia in declared hostility, rather than in Europe a year later.

What is remarkable, then, in our present context, is that the Lady’s prophecy about WWII being pre-signaled by a celestial sign, turns out to have been more accurate than even human retrospective observation have realized  – because the Lady correctly saw the War commencing in 1938 in the East, where in fact it began, from a non-Eurocentric perspective.

INCIDENTALLY, A SIMILAR  kind of ‘discrepancy’ between Her prophecy and reality also occurred in relation to the apparition of October 13, 1917.

Many weeks prior to this ‘Sun Dance’ vision, the Lady had promised to appear to the vast throng in Fátima at precisely 12:00 noon on the 13th. However, she seemed to arrive "late" for this "appointment" by half and hour.  Her tardiness cause many in the crowd to grumble and doubt, until at last she arrived.

What actually occurred, however, is that the Lady was apparently determining the noon hour according to more precise sidereal position relative to Fátima; in contrast to this true "celestial time," the local clocks of Portugal were deliberately "mis-set" by local convention to read one-half hour later.

Once again, just as in the Aurora ‘Lights’ prediction, here is evidence that the prophetic phenomena indeed came from the supernatural perfect mind of Heaven.  It was not of earthly human invention.
