VISION of JESUS and MARY REGARDING the IMMACULATE HEART CONFESSION

Introduction:  After maturing into adulthood, Lucia entered a convent and has devoted herself to Godly service ever since.

In the July 1917 vision, the Beautiful Lady had revealed to Lucia that her companions Jacinta and Francisco would soon be taken to Heaven(Both children died within a short time.)  Hearing that they would die, Lucia asked if she too could go to Heaven, but the  Lady answered:

“... You are to stay here some time longer. Jesus wishes to make use of you to make me known and loved. He wants to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. I promise salvation to those who embrace it, and these souls will be loved by God, like flowers placed by me to adorn His throne.”

Dejectedly Lucia asked, “Am I to stay here all alone?” and the Lady replied:

“No, daughter. I shall never forsake you. My Immaculate Heart will be your refuge and the way that will lead you to God.”

Lucia's Follow-up Visions

During the summer of 1925 Lucia happened to meet a boy near a garden. She asked him if he knew the Hail Mary.  He said that he did, but when she requested him to do so, he remained silent.  She then led  him in repeating a Hail Mary together three times. She then told him to visit the church at Santa Maria and pray:

“0 my heavenly Mother, give me your Child Jesus!”

The Lady Re-Appears...

LUCIA CONTINUED to receive visions: on the night of 10 December 1925, Our Lady (now understood by the Church to be the Virgin Mary) appeared to her with the Child Jesus and asked for the reparatory devotion of the Five First Saturdays, and to re-confirm the essential importance of devotion to the Immaculate Heart.

The Lady appeared in a vision together with a Child elevated on a luminous cloud.   Resting one hand on the Child's shoulder, with the other she held out to Lucia a heart encircled by thorns.

The Child spoke:

“Have compassion on the Heart of your most holy Mother, covered with thorns, with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment, and there is no one to make an act of reparation to remove them.”

Then the Lady said:

“Look, my daughter, at my Heart, surrounded with thorns with which ungrateful men pierce me at very moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude.

“You at least try to console me and say that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me.”

Shortly afterwards,  on February, 15, 1926 Lucia encountered a boy whom she took to be the one she she'd met the previous summer and with whom she had said the “Hail Mary.”   She asked him:

“Did you ask our heavenly Mother for the Child Jesus?”

The child turned to her and replied:

“And have you spread through the world what our heavenly Mother requested of you?”

“With that,” Lucia later wrote “ he was transformed into a resplendent Child,” whom she knew to be Jesus.  She replied to him that:

“My Jesus, You know very well what my confessor said to me in the letter I read to You. He told me that it was necessary for this vision to be repeated, for further happenings to prove its credibility, and he added that Mother Superior, on her own, could do nothing to propagate this devotion.”

Jesus said:

“It is true your Superior alone can do nothing, but with my grace she can do all. It is enough that your confessor gives you permission and that your Superior speak of it, for it to be believed, even without people knowing to whom it has been revealed.

Lucia replied:

“But my confessor said in the letter that this devotion is not lacking in the world, because there are many souls who receive You on the First Saturdays, in honour of Our Lady and of the Fifteen Mysteries of the Rosary.”

Jesus said:

“It is true, my daughter, that many souls begin the First Saturdays [confessions], but few finish them, and those who do complete them do so in order to receive the graces that are promised thereby.

It would please me more if they did Five with fervor and with the intention of making reparation to the Heart of your heavenly Mother, than if they did Fifteen, in a tepid and in-different manner...

Lucia told Jesus the difficulty that some people were having in accepting the doctrine about First Saturday confessions  and requested whether it might be acceptable instead to say a confession within eight days of the First Saturday. Jesus answered:

“Yes -- and it could be longer still, provided that, when they receive Me, they are in the state of grace and have the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.”

Lucia then asked: “My Jesus, what about those who forget to make this intention?” He replied:

“They can do so at their next confession, taking advantage of the first opportunity to go to confession.”

Lucia Requests
Further Guidance...

In prayer on December 17, 1927 she asked Jesus how she might comply with previous instructions regarding devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. (Again, this had been reveal in the July 1917 revelation and Secret.)  Jesus replied audibly:

“My daughter, write what they [ i.e., the bishops] ask of you. Write also all that the most holy Virgin revealed to you in the Apparition, in which she spoke of this devotion. As for the remainder of the Secret, continue to keep silence.”
